Shiraz University Of Medical Sciences History
The Foundation of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences dates back to 50 years ago when Shiraz Institute of Higher Health Education admitted a few medical students. For years, as a major faculty of Shiraz University, it continued its educational activities. In 1986, it was separated from Shiraz University and started its activities independently, first, as Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and then as The University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Fars Province.
At present, with more than 5000 students, 83 different majors, and 460 academic staff and 12000 personnel, it not only offers educational services but also provides required health services for the whole country in general and for Fars Province in particular.
The university is committed to excellence in research, treatment and teaching. The performance of sophisticated and advanced services such as bone marrow, heart and kidney transplantation proves the high standards in the university.
