Objectives:
      1- Educational:
          A- General educational programs about common digestive and liver diseases.
          B- Special educational programs about gastroenterohepathobiliary system for general
               physicians, internists, fellows of gastroenterohepathology and other specialties and
               subspecialties.
      2- Research:
          A- Supervising research projects.
          B- Establishing Research Methods Workshops.
          C- Publications including news, papers, abstracts, and final reports on research
               projects.

The Gastroenterohepathology Research Center was founded in 1999 and the main members were selected from the adult and pediatric gastroenterology departments. Later on, this center was approved by the Ministery of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in 2002 and now it has more than 20 active members. One of the most important objectives of this center is liaison with other research, health and teaching institutes and organizations such as Blood Bank. This center works within two aspects of research and teaching and has been educating the public regarding gastrointestinal and liver disorders. It also provides special gastroenterology courses for general practitioners, internists, gastroenterologists and other residency and fellowship programs. This center is the executive supervisor of many research projects and holds a number of research workshops. It publishes newsletters, educational pamphlets, abstracts, papers in national and international journals and also final reports of the projects.

· Prevalence of gastrointestinal cancers among the urban and rural population of Fars, Booshehr, ….

· Prevalence of gastric dysplasia and cancer in Iranian soldiers exposed to chemical warfares

· Prevalence of Iron deficiency and its etiology in Iraninan soldiers exposed to chemical warfares

· Subgroups of chronic autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) in adult patients in Fars : frequency and classification

· Comparison of three different popular methods used in the analysis of the correlations between signs and symptoms of the patients with reflux and 24 hour PH metry

· Prevalence of celiac disease in adult patients with cryptogenic chronic hepatitis
